Jelena Ostapenko was the surprise winner for this year's tournament on the women's side. In addition, 18-year-old CiCi Bellis reached the 3rd Round of a Major for the first time and veteran, Venus Williams, appeared in another second week of a major.

This wasn't the year for the USTA in singles for the ATP or WTA. No American man made it past Round 3 and Venus Williams was the only American woman into the Round of 16.
