Mayo, who played 41 games for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, was "dismissed and disqualified from the league for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug program," the NBA said in a statement.

Mayo will be eligible to apply for reinstatement in two years.

The NBA did not release information about the testing or treatment of Mayo under the Anti-Drug Program.
