Book Review: Call of the Herald

My Rating : 3 stars

Blurb
Call of the Herald is Book One of The Dawning of Power trilogy. Echoes of the ancients' power are distant memories, tattered and faded by the passage of eons, but that is about to change. A new dawn has arrived. Latent abilities, harbored in mankind's deepest fibers, wait to be unleashed. Ancient evils awaken, and old fears ignite the fires of war.

My thought
Echoes of the ancients' power are distant memories, tattered and faded by the passage of eons, but that is about to change. A new dawn has arrived. Latent abilities, harbored in mankind's deepest fibers, wait to be unleashed. Ancient evils awaken, and old fears ignite the fires of war. In times such as these, ordinary people have the power to save the world . . . or destroy it. I did struggle past the first chapter and found myself a little bit lost at first by what he was trying to convey with his scene on the comets.
It does have a pretty good hook after the second chapter and I was late getting back to work on a few occasions. I just didn’t want to put this book down after I got past the gritty stuff.
I like that Catrin struggles with her powers – she only wants to do good, but it doesn’t always happen. I thought the battle scenes were well written
The ending is kind of a cliff hanger but I was satisfied enough with the ending to give this book three stars
