But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices—choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?
My thought
In the beginning Eragon needs to stay at Trojenheim to finish some buiseness and make sure that Orik is elected king of the dwarves while the Varden leave Trojenheim and begin their march to Urubean, and to king Galbatorix's castle. Roran is put on the front lines in the Varden and impresses beyond belief by killing almost 200 men in a scrimish. Then when Eragon gets Orik elected, he goes back to Ellesmerra to train with his master Oromis where he learns that Galbatorix's source of power is hundreds of dragon's heart of hearts. Then glader, Oromis' dragon gives Eragon his heart of hearts. Also Earagon finally gets his own riders sword and names it Brisenger. Then Eragon leads the Varden and captures a city while Oromis and Gleader are killed by Galbatorix.
This book continues the story of Eragon the dragon rider and his dragon Saphira. Eragon, Saphira, the Varden and the Elves are preparing to fight against Galbatorix. The book delves more deeply into Eragons emotions and feelings about other people, like Arya the elf and Sloan (Eragons cousins wifes father) and the cause he is fighting for: rebellion against Galbatorix. Eragon is constantly forced to choose between what he thinks is right and what other think is right, and I think Christopher Paolini did well at showing Eragons point of view and personality, especially when he is conflicted in choices, by using good descriptors and making Eragons and Saphiras personalities clear.
